Areas of Practice
There is nothing more important to a parent than their child. Parents want the best for their children, however when marital conflicts escalate the notion of “staying together for the children” is not very realistic. When a couple divorces, their children are often profoundly affected, though chances are they’ve been victim to the conflict for quite some time. Their sense of stability and well-being are undermined and parents often let their emotions get the best of them, unintentionally placing their children in the middle.
Couples are used to having access to their children without limitation but in the event of divorce the family is split into two separate units, and that access becomes limited. While this is hard for the parents to get used to, it is often harder for the children. After all, they had no say in the matter. Nevertheless, no child should suffer at the expense of their parents’ unhappiness.
The attorneys at Cheatham, Palermo & Garrett (CPG) are here to help ensure that the the day-to-day life of each child involved is not compromised as a result of the divorce. Our goal in all child custody cases is to serve the best interests of the children while helping the separating or divorcing parent to obtain the best child custody outcome in an effort to maintain and preserve the crucial parent-child relationship.
